Here are my 1st attempt at posting tank photos. My 10 yr old son Jon took almost all of these pics. http://community.webshots.com/album/45825380MtsYdd

Wow, your son did a wonderful job taking pics. It looks like you might have a future pro photographer in the fam. Very nice tank too.
I noticed you have an 802 PH, do you have any problems with it as far as it throwing out micro bubbles every now and then?
I recently switched my PH's to the 802's and I am having that problem and it is driving me nuts, I am about to take them, and go another route for my added circulation.
thx for any input.

Great looking tank Uel. I noticed you live in Albany. I live about an hour from there. Just curious as to what LFS you're going to. I know of two over there. Wondering if there's more I don't know about. I was wanting to get some Montipora digitata but can't seem to find any around here.

Thanks Susan and Stephanie. I don't have too much of a problem with air bubbles from the power heads. The only time I have a problem is when it has been off for a long time (not working). Stef there are only two stores here in Albany. Fish & More is under new ownership and should start getting better corals. Raymond at Atlas has gotten me two acros when I asked him to be on the look out. The vast majority of them came from online retailers. E-mail me and I will share the best names with you.

I was wondering if you have had any problems with your red coris wrasse in the reef. I really like th colors they have but not to sure on how reef friendly they are. BTW Good job on the pics your son took

Uel,

Your tank is looking nice!! Give your son a pat on the back for those shots, or maybe some candy

Jeff, I don't have experience with Coris Wrasse but I hear they are pretty good for controlling those translucent flatworms. I'm sure they will somehow affect the pod population if you dont' have a lot of live rock.

Thanks guys!! Jeff the wrasse is an ok reef fish, but not excellent. I believe someone is eating my shrimp and he could be the culprit. He has turned some light corals over (resting on the sand) and some snails. At this point nothing has been damaged and he isn't able to eat the snails. I just love his colors and have wanted one for a long time. One requirement to keeping one is sand(an absolute must). They bury themselves in stressful situations and at night. I tried 3 others with no luck before adding sand. I think that is why they have a reputation for being sensitive. They like the Vlamngi tang eat alot. My Spainish Hogfish will eat algae and Seaweed Selects but the Red Corris won't even look at it. I got the Spainish when was as small as or smaller than the cleaner wrasse. He acted like a cleaner for 6-8 months and ate the seaweed and algae because the other fish were. The wrasses are out all the time.

The Tang police don't scare me I have 2 small hippos, purple, Red sea sailfin, and the Vlamngi in a 180. That is plenty of room for these fish. My LFS will trade them out with me when or if they get too big. He has a huge holding system. He once had a 2 foot Red Corris Wrasse in there. A remora got in the system and sucked a hole in it's side, which caused it to get an infection and die. He was stunning! My Vlamngi will eat out of my hand and has even let me pet him.

Scubadude, I have an Oceanic 180 with dual overflows, Aqua Medic 1000 sump with all the extras (CR, PS, Denitrifier, Auto filler, and a Mag drive 1200 pump). I have an Aqualight MH's 2 250w 10,000ks and one atinic and one daylight florescent. The Aqualight is enclosed so it is mounted 6-8 inches above the water and fits under the canopy. I tried 8 florescents before upgrading to the MH's. My wife insisted on a canopy and I could not find anyone locally to make a good one for the larger halide fixtures. The mushroom you referred to is called a Giant Cup Mushroom and the sceintific name is Amplexidscus fenestrafer. It is so cool. It is capable of eating a fish. It changes its shape several times a day. I will occasionally feed it whole shrimp or pieces of fish. It will form a cup or ball shape around the food (fish) and work it into it's mouth in the center. It will look like a mushroom out of water for several hours after a feeding. I thought it was dying the first time I saw that. It is close to a foot across and will shrink to about four inches and lay over looking awful after feeding. I have had to rescue several fish from it's clutches. The fish are stunned or drugged so badly that they can't even swim for about one hour afterwards. They have all recovered. The skunk that is living in it doesn't seem to be affected by its toxins. Once a wrasse was trapped and just as I was opening the mushroom the wrasse went right through the shroom's skin and within seconds the shroom's skin was healed over. It closes veerryy slowly and I can't believe any fish is stupid enough wait that long to be eaten. But every rescued fish has learned his lesson and will not come to rest on his flesh again. I will include a link to this site, Myetank which has a history and list of my setup, just keep clicking on back in this report to see it all.

Thanks,
Uel
