    Aquascape Ideas & Pictures

    Hi,

I am thinking of re-aquascape my tank. I have seen some of the most beautiful tanks in this forum, however, I did not save all the pictures. Anyone have any interesting ideas and pictures of their aquascape that would like to share? Please post your ideas and pictures here. Thanks in advance.

    Smile Hi Goodgreef

I think the best way to aquascape a tank IMO is to make your own aragocrete rock (DIY liverock) this way you can build your own shapes, and regardless of what some people say you can make it just as porous if not moreso than natural liverock. I Have made flat slab looking pieces and put holes every place where I wanted to mount a frag. This worked out EXCELLENT! Now my theory was to make 60% DIY LR and the rest of the 40% would be actual Fiji or whatever to seed the DIY rock with....but once your tank starts maturing and getting over the algae blooms and other problems and your corals start growing then you can slowly take out the fiji rock and put it either in your sump thus making room for growout of the corals but still leaving the beneficial filtration factor of the Rock.

    Hi goodgreef!

There have been some awesome pictures of Japanese tanks posted recently that have been really popular with the members.

    Hi oceanreef!

Although not all the secrets, here is an snippet that Ninong got when he translted the Japanese web page:

It is important to "polish" the glass surface. Of course you should clean off any coralline algae but the glass surface outside you wipe clean and it looks like it is polished. The large unobstructed opening at the top of the aquarium allows you to clean off the coralline algae extensively, also the fact that the aquascaping is less crowded between the rock group and the glass surface is the secret which permits maintaining a perfectly clean tank.
