that's the Slav (Russian? Czech? ) in your soul! Of COURSE you love opera -- it's over-the-top, dramatic, flashy, colorful ...

(much like the coral reef, I may add...

And (although others have mentioned...) YOUR granddaughter is just gorgeous. You must really have fun hanging out with them!

Scubadude,

Yep, I'm a "semi-professional" opera singer. Which basically means I don't make enough YET as a singer to quit my day job (IT Recruiter) and sing full-time.

I sing opera, art song ("classical" songs that aren't excerpted from a bigger work -- like an opera), some musical theater-type stuff.

I listen to EVERYTHING from the Violent Femmes to techno to Cuban music and Brazillian. The only things I don't really care for/own are country and really hard core heavy metal (sorry to those of you who love either).

Hey almostdiva, it's too bad you discovered reef keeping before you became "100%diva"....reefing is so engrossing you'll soon forget about singing.

Gene thanks.

scubadude thanks..

the tin foil on the supernova reflector is just temporary(to keep from blinding ya till I frame the top in like a closet.

its a 1000watt 20k on a hydroponic light mover so the only choice I have is to frame the whole top to the ceiling and put doors on it.it'll look kinda built in

used to have lower wattage lights that hung over a 135 in the same spot .they were low enough that they didnt blind ya like the 1000watter which has to be hung higher.

Mrok12,

Thanks. No stroking necessary though -- it's just the only digital pic I have.

Sarah Brightman is a great "cross-over" artist -- I think she's had a bunch of people listen to "serious music" who maybe thought opera was too stuffy/inaccessable.

Reinhold -- I think the engrossment is already happening. Who knew I'd find something potentially more exp. than my singing career! All those gadgets, all the cool little animals (finned and not... ). I was SERIOUSLY contemplating moving about 2 mos ago to a new apt. so I could set up a 110 or 125 gal tank!

almostdiva: I knew I was losing my mind when I actually started seriously thinking I wanted a separate tank for a Hawaiian Dragon eel (the eel is reasonably priced at $1100.)

Looking back, I realize how crazy that is.....althought they are really cool eels, and aren't all that hard to keep, and they make great conversation pieces.....

Ummm... I tried scrolling through all the threads because I swore I posted my pic here... but I guess it was another forum.

Well, I'm 23 (24 in November) and I am a Senior Animator for the video game and film industry. I mostly specialize in research & development. (Currently starting my own company)

Here's the beast I get to operate. (we scan the actors in it and put em into digital format)

Here's me 20lbs heavier a couple years ago with Wayne Brady at a Video Game Expo

EEL!!!!!!!!!!

Reinhold,

Not crazy at all... although not an inexpensive critter... they are way cool though... if I ever got an eel, it would be one of them

What would you need --- a pretty big tank, some sand,LR, a skimmer, no expensive lights etc. The eel would probalby be the most expensive part!

Go ahead.... he'd look great in the basement I bet...

I also wanted to mention...
For those who haven't gotten the Monsters, Inc. DVD...
All you Marineheads will finally have a movie special for the hobbiest...

It's called "Finding Nemo" by Pixar. I've seen some shots of this animated movie and it looks beautiful.

Back when I first set the new tank up about five or six months ago, I set the rock in with the tank so cloudy I couldn't see and we got a kick out of it because it didn't look too bad. It's great to see what some of the people look like. I've seen some of you on the boards for years now.

Here is one of me and my daughter in Cancun. The quality is not near as good since I had to shrink it down.

Marco, Nice fish
Got one myself many years ago before catch and release became the thing to do .
Nothing like some good old smoked sail.
Same goes for the Tarpon , caught it when I was a kid in my back yard. I did release all but this one.
Were talking back in the late 60's
Anyway !!!!
