How do you break live rock?!!?
I am putting this 20+ pound live rock into my 75 gallon but it won't fit into the two openings at the top.
How would you break this [i.e. using what, and method]. I was just thinking of using a hammer and pounding it. The faster the replies the better....right now it's in the fuge. Thanks, Elmo ![]() |

Hi Elmo!
Take a hammer and chisel and hit it right in the center (or however large you want the piece). I would put it on a piece of plastic when doing this so you can dump the little fragments into the tank as well.

Hiya Scott! Thanks the reply. I actually was able to fit the piece in. It didn't look doable at first, but eventually i angled it right, I guess and it popped in.
Thanks, Elmo |

Sounds like you got a hunk of rock to not fit in the openings. Where did you get it from?

Scott, this was a large piece of live rock that i did not have in either of my two tanks at the moment. It was sitting in a rubber maid container with a heater an dpower head.
It's Fiji Live rock from Flying Fish Express. I'm getting another 45 lbs of this from Flying Fish tomorrow. Can't wait to see what sizes I get, along with the quality. - Elmo |
