Reefeze,
Your set up sounds real good.Just toss that marine snow out the window as it 99% water.DT's is a way to go IMHO.
Hey barry (any everyone else)
I was thinking if you think this will be adequate for a 50g clam grow out tank.
Im thinking one (or two?) MH 10k pendants, (Do I need Acintic, you think? what?)
Some kind of skimmer, maybe a cheapo one, I dont want to overskim.
two 100w heaters. I'm thinking of setting up an auto doser of DT's, but I don't know how to keep them alive, maybe MarineSnow (or whatever that stuff is)
Currently I might not use a sump, but If I do it will most likely be a 10g
Sound OK?
TIA

Sounds like a GREAT tank! Ditto the snow! I like 15,000k 400 watt bulbs therefore I have no real need for actinic add-ons. Your going to need calcium---reactor of additive??? What do you think? How much water movement are you planing? How high is the tank going to be?
When can we get started?
Jim
reefeze,
Your lights will be fine. Actinic is like of a personal thing.
I like Dt's the best for suppliment feeding, IME
Since your tank is 50 gal you could dose B-Ionic for alk and ca. if you want to hold off on a reactor.

where can I get CHEAP lighting?
Also, should I use a sump? What about a plenum? I've always done DSB before.
TIA
RE
A far as lighting, you could check the sponsor's and see if they carry lights or the trade forum.
I personally like a sump as it give you more water volume. I have no experence with plenum so can not comment on that.
