While dreaming about my new tank, I wanted to get some opinions on recommended SPS for a new tank. I know Montiporas are an excellent starter SPS but are there others?

Pavona spp. are good starter sps corals. Some come in a brilliant green. Pocillopora spp. are also good starter sps and come in a wide variety of colors. As you mentioned montipora are great, both digitata and capricornis.

Anacropora Forbesi
Not the greatest in coloration but definately a class of its own in growth formation. It appears to be very tough as I accidently broke a piece and it was growing on the SB under less then optimum conditions. Also if you want to be out of the "Norm" then get into much more exotic Montiporas like Montipora Incrassata, vietnamesis, porites, hispada, efflorescens etc etc. Most of them are fairly tough corals and have awesome coloration and/or growth patterns that stray from the same ole run of the mill capricornis or digitata patterns/colors/growths
