    Gene, that has got to be the wildest growth form I've seen. 1st. pic almost looks like the famous Stuber's acropora. This is the almost first acropora formosa that came from europe to the states. The other pics just go to show you how different any sps coral can grow depending from tank to tank, even though in the one pic they are side by side. I don't know what species it is but it sure is nice.

    I have a plating montipora species that I got a frag of from my friend hreef and in her tank it is a bright green flat plating growth form. I got a frag from her and in my 180 it is a olive green and has upward growing nodules on the edges. The edges almost look purple or pinkish. It is another example how different these sps corals can be. Oh yeah, we even have the same lighting.{250w 65k iwasaki's}

    Gene, Hi...No, mine has the nodules only on the leading edge. Not on the surface of the coral only the outter edges. Her's is a flat plate which is why I had wanted a frag of it. Oh well....

    Sue,
    How're things with you this days?Hope all is well.Interesting that you mentioned Stuber,it does not look I think like formosa but I should try to track down the guy that used to sell this frags to LFS,maybe he knows where this came from and what the heck it is .It's side by side becouse I moved one from the other tank and now it starting to grow this way(i mean the one on the right in last picture).I'll try to dig up a pic of what it looks like under 175w AB's in my other tank.
    How's that pavona chip doing,is it growing any?
    This is a pic of the same acro in April.

    Sue -

    Is this the Montipora you're talking about? I originally got this one from Brian Conger and then passed a frag along to Hreef. It does have a wild growth form, and the light purple edge is a nice contrast to the green.

    Hi houston..... No, this originally came from See Loong Chin, a guy that was in our local club. MARSH... He took his tank down summer before last and this was a frag that had come from him. Grew flat and when introduced into my 180g. it started growing nodules and didn't keep the nice green. Couse this thing now is about the size of a plate and the purple nodules have increased to a deep purple it retains the more olive green center. I'll not fuss as I'd much rather have the purple nodules.
