oops
Just how deep is that sandbed?
The tank looks great! Where did you get your Loc-Line from? How long have you had the Xenia? It's hard to judge considering the growth rate of that stuff!
Regards,
Scott Z.
Thanks
The sand bed was about 5inch. all the way through the tank but I have a Draggon Gobie that likes puts the sand in the front of the tank.
About every six months I cut all the Xenia out of the tank and bring it to the LFS.It has been about 4 months since I did it last.I learned very quick why people call it the weed of the sea.
Ohh and the Loc-Line came from an Lfs here in New Orleans.

Luckily you have a LFS around that will accept it and give you trade/credit. I have heard of people having to throw it away because they couldn't find anyone to take it off their hands. It sure looks nice, keep it up!
What kind of lighting do you have over the tank?
Scott Z.
Right now I have 2-250watt 65k&2-55watt actinics other 2 burn the ballast![]()
It is nice to have an LFS like that around here, but I quit getting store credit after the second batch of about 75 piecesnow I just get a good discount.
Are the PC's spread evenly across the tank? The right side seems to be a bit more yellow than the rest of the tank.
You have a very good eye there. They are staggered a little bit so yes the right side is a little more yellow.
I left it that way until I decide (my wife decides)what I'm going to do about the ballast.Stay with the compacts,or buy VHO's.
VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO - VHO
Oh I'm sorry, I got carried away there. They are definitely my preference over PC's. I think you would be more pleased with the overall coloration of the tank with VHO actinics and the 65k's than with the PC's.
As for the ballast, go ahead and pick up an IceCap ballast, which can run the PC's or VHO.
Scott Z.
BTW, What size tank is it?
lol
I was thinking the same thing ,but it isn't that easy too convince the Wife.
Well good luck bud and be sure to keep us updated!
Kind Regards Friend,
Scott Z.
Looks nice.
A quote comes to mind when ya said the wife makes the decisions. " It is easier to suffer the consequences of a purchase than to ask for the same purchase" Dont know who said it but it was in a post or sig line hehheheheh
Jeff
Hmmmmm what to put here???
LMAO,
Thanks for the compliment.
I have her talked into the lights I just need to decide exactly how many VHO's I'm going to put on the tank. And get the money together.
If your gonna keep the MH like was said above you could get a Ice Cap and hove the option to run either. I agree with Scott though on the vho. I would have 2 atenic VHO's but thats me. I like the atenic VHO better for some reason.
Jeff
Oh on the previous post no slam was intended just joking sorry man
Hmmmmm what to put here???
I didn't take it as a slam.I knew it was a joke lol.
As far as how many bulbs I know I want at least 2 I was thinking about 4,but don't know if that would be over kill.
Do you plan on running your MH all day meaning your whole lighting cycle? I have mine offset to run 3 hours in the morn and 4 hours in the evening. I have 2 atenics and 2 white. The VHO's stay on all the whole cycle and MH kicks in twice a day for a total of 7 hours. If you plan on running the MH all day 2 should be sufficent. My reasoning behind the break up is to hit the lower pricing time in the billing day.
Jeff
Hmmmmm what to put here???
The way I run my lights now is:
actinics on@ 9:00am
mh on@ 11:00am
mh off@ 8:00pm
actinics off @10:00
I don't really have any reason for doing it like this just the way I have been doing it for the past year.
If it aint broke dont fix it.
jeff
Hmmmmm what to put here???
Nice Xenia is right!! It would be a terrible thing to throw away coral trimmings!!!
"That is the sound of inevitability..."
I don't throw away I donate![]()
