October Issue of Advanced Aquarist is Online

Fellow Aquarists,

The October issue of Advanced Aquarist is up and free to all at:

www.advancedaquarist.com

This month's Feature Article is a paper written by Sanjay Joshi and Tim Marks presenting a HUGE amount of data on some new Double Ended lamps and ballasts. So for those of you wondering: "Is my 400w 10K running on the best ballast?" - make sure to read the aritcle!

The Featured Aquarium this month is also one of Sanjay's "works of art" at Penn State University. Sanjay has provided a lot of information about this beautiful monster and how it is maintained (Hint, can you say "army of undergrads?")

Greg Schiemer has an article on reef safe triggerfish this month which should clear up a lot of questions.

The Product Review is also especially relevant this month as Richard Harker has tested and reported on the 105w AB lamp which many hobbyists are using. The plots also show the distribution of the light coming out of the fixture.

The Breeders Net has an excellent article by acclaimed marine fish breeder Martin Moe about a novel foodsource for troublesome small fish fry - ciliates. This may be the "keystone" to raising angelfish, anthias, and many more!

Julian Sprung has covered Aquarium Invertebrates this month - with a VERY thorough review of Corallimorpharia (mushrooms) and some beautiful photos.

If you're interested in dosing Iron to boost your tank's productivity, read Randy Holmes-Farley's Chemistry in the Aquarium article.

The Photo Gallery Spotlight is a wonderful hitchiker - I'll leave it to you to see the photo and description for yourself.

And last but not least, Charles Delbeek's Media Review this month covers phosphate is closed systems, as well as articles on corals, fish, crustaceans, anemones, and seagrasses.

So make sure to "pick up" this month's FREE issue of Advanced Aquarist and make use of this valuable resource.

Sincerely,

The staff at www.reefs.org and
www.advancedaquarist.com
