Guys,
I've just discovered 3 snails in my tank thats been setup about 2 months now... must have come in the live rock, have watched them grow over the past two weeks and they have almost more than quadrupled in size from tiny babies to about an inch an a half in lenght.... I would like to try an identify what they are.... 1 is black bodied with a dark blue head/top 2 are white and brown (like camoflage)... I only seem to see them in the dark with the torch out or when I put the lights on after a few ours of lights out... does anyone have a clue as to what they could be??? Thanks in advance... Rashid,
There are so many possibilities that it's really difficult to even guess without pictures of the snail showing both the top and bottom views. Here is a link that will give you an idea of the possibilities: http://www.gastropods.com/ Just to give you an idea of the thousands of possibilities and to illustrate how that site works: Click on Gastropods. Then, under Vetigastropoda, click on Trochoidea. Then click on Trochidae Trochinae or Trochidae Astraeinae to see the possibilities for two common genera of snails that are encountered in the hobby.
