    my reef info. site upgrade

    My site is back online, it was down for about a day, with the help of friends
    We made some much needed changes

    It’s much easier to navigate and find content than before especially to some of those difficult to find sections like the DIY stuff. There are some neat features

    We are working on an active portal as well to provide up to date info. On the industry, the reefs and more. Hope you enjoy.

    Here is a image capture.

    I'd like to make a suggestion.

    Get rid of that gay no right mouse click javascript. I've been to your site a few times but refuse to stay long as the no right click simply annoys the hell out of me.

    Well it's not up to me a bunch of people allow the use of content
    (photos) that I have not produced. Early on three divers who had been published in N.G. asked for this, so it has been there since.

    sorry i could not keep your interest peaked long enough to stay

    You realize don't you that the javascript doesn't disallow copying of the images on your site right? It just means you can't use the quickest way of saving.

    I mean a simple "File >> Save As" not only copies the images but all of your html as well.

    But it's your site...

    ;)

    yeah I know
    you can also just look at the pic name
    and type that directory & get teh image
    that way.

    i had been taking photos for a while but
    when i set out to do the site, i had no
    where near what i needed. I had to get
    help in that area.

    i did not, thanks for the compliment.
    many people at least 30 have asked
    for me to get rid of that feature. mainly
    people say it is a pain they can not cut
    and paste.

    actually i never used the right click for
    that, always control c and v. I can see
    it is a pain in the a**.

    Blane,
    I know you don't see me over there as much as you like. I hate to say it but I agree with ChrisIsBored. I like your site but not being able to use the right click really ticks me off..

    i imagine when the site got reformatted that feature was
    taken out of the code.

    So that should make everyone much more happy now ;)

    Is there any way we can avoid using the word "gay" in such a negative and derogatory light here? As an educator I am constantly trying to teach our youth that the use of this word and others to describe something in a negative way is hurtful to many and keeps discrimination and hate alive and well. Just a friendly suggestion and not meant to flame or put down the user of this quote. Thanks all

    rofl...

    yep... still in the PC age.

    EDIT: I don't think I made myself clear though as to why I don't like the no right click. I'm one of those guys that like to use the right click as my navigation tool. Scrolling back to the top of the browser is annoying especially when my lowest resolution is 1280x1024. Using the right click allows me to open links into a seperate window, or navigate backwards and forwards.

    ;)

    Blane if interested, you might look into an alternate and less annoying way of copy protection of your images. The following code for example should cause the user to download an empty pixel rather than the image they were trying to get after.

    Code:
    <TABLE BACKGROUND="precious-image.gif" BORDER="0" CELLSPACING="0" CELLPADDING="0">
    <TR>
    <TD>
    <IMG SRC="clear.gif" WIDTH="60" HEIGHT="60">
    </TD>
    </TR>
    </TABLE>
    Change the height and width of the clear 1x1 pixel to the appropriate size and when trying to save... the empty pixel will be the top most image.

    Just an idea. ;)

    That is a good idea, it may be time consuming. I have had the complaint numerous times, so after this thread I contacted a few of the people whose images I am using. I hope to hear back from them and possibly just remove the disable all together.
