You should print out this entire thread, pictures and all, and send it to the guy who sold you those fish as A. latezonatus and tell him that we're all making fun of him, in case he happens to care.![]()

On that note, although a little off-topic; I am pretty pleased with this new store. He has some nice SPS frags and colonies and is starting to get in some clams. He is currently building a new SPS system which will allow them to hold more as he mentioned he plans to start getting some of the WS Aquacultured corals. He has the only Saltwater Specific store in town.
I plan to! This will be the true test of his passion and commitment. Should we start wagering now?![]()
His passion and commitment to what? Making money or being correct in his identification?Originally posted by Reefland

I agree on the ID (certainly not because I'm any expert) but I did look through Wilkerson's book and fish base.
In reply to the off topic,
I have been very pleased with all the Walt Smith corals I have received so far. After acclimation and settling in 3-4 weeks 100% of them have developed excellent color. Also each one has come with one or two acro crabs. The size in relationship to the price is also excellent.

For what it's worth A. latezonatus are obtainable from a few online suppliers although they are not available every day.
Just my .02
Marine Center had a pair of latezonatus for sale about 3 wks ago. They wanted $425 for the pair, if I remember correctly....
I know some clowns do change w age too (don't acquire a 3rd stripe, etc until they are older than juvenile).
Not to throw another clown into the mix.... could they be Amphiprion polymnus (black saddlebacks)???
duh... forgot the pics...
try again...
or....
No it is certainly not the saddleback, although they are very nice!
I spoke with the Scott Fellman (WWM Crew) regarding differentiating the clowns between ocellaris and perculas and he stated that Ocellaris seem to stay in the mid strata of the water column as where Perculas seem to stay near the surface. If I had a camera to get a picture of them we could count the spines but unfortunately I do not have one available at this time.
Thanks to my love, here is a picture of the guys!
AWWWWWWWWWW....
They are too cool!
