The "Holy Grail" of clams- 7"-8" Teardrop Maxima wallpaper (graphics intense!)
I seem to have a new favorite clam every week, but I think this one will be hard to beat.
This Teardrop Maxima is absolutely huge! To put things in perspective, the blue clams are 3". He was just put in the tank and not fully open, but you can get some idea of the mantle design. I can't imagine what it will look like after it is fully acclimated! |

That is awesome!!!! If you paid 200 for that, how much does a typical 3" teardrop go for???

I honestly have no idea. I know that the black-and-white Maximas usually run about 1.5 times what the Ultras do.
This is my first true Teardrop purchase, although I had a Gold Maxima one time before that was somewhat similar. Perhaps Barry can comment on how much the smaller ones usually run, I know he used to get some occasionally. |

Somehow I think they're all gold maximas
but I definately could be wrong on this I think 200 bucks for a 8" clam with teardrop markings is a steal Darren, regardless what anybody think what it worth.I would pay it in a heart beat Good luck with him.PS.I remember paying about $89 for a 4" teardrop, too bad it did not make it(expired in like few days).I realy miss that clam.

So what makes it a tear drop?
Is it the green spots? It really is a very cool clam. |

Absolutely Beautiful !!!!!!!! What size is your tank? Think you have enough room??? I would love to find a teardrop, though I could only start at a 3 incher. Good luck, with yours, April |

Lost my tear drop this morning
Darren - Very nice clam.
I lost my 3 inch tear drop this morning. I look at the tank - and it is dead - no warning or anything. It was probably weaken during shipping - package arrived cold. The other two clams - 6 inch tear drop and a corcea are both doing well so far. Its mantle was not fully extended..so I assume it died due to stress. It was clean - no mucus or whatever around the clam. Someone had commented that tear drop is hard to keep - I hope that is not the case because they are rather pricey. |

Aw, man. That hurts.
Sorry to hear of your loss. This one is in a 75-Gallon with two 250-watt halides and 2 x 65 PC. I am probably putting 400s on it though. |
