my system isn't up and running yet, but while i was designing the basic aquascape design i came up with a really good way to make the clams i want stick out as show pieces. My whole stand is going to stick out of the wall instead of against it (so you get the two long panels for viewing instead of one), and on the sand at the outermost 1/4 of tank is where i wanted to set up a clam bed. Will two 250w 10ks be enough to have maximas and croceas all the way down on sand?? tank is 75g aga 48x20x18. MH bulbs will be 8 to 9 inches from water surface and 4" DSB. BTW I know I won't even have the clams until tank is matured, but I'm just trying to think as far ahead as possible.

,even the lights are the same.Mine are about 9-10" from the water surface.I have four clams in this tank, two are on the sand and the last two I've got from Barry are on the rocks. They all seems to be doing great. The las two are attached already to a small pieces of rock and I can take them out if I need to.Like Barry said, croceas are the most light demanding clams of all tridacnas,so placing it higher would be perfect.
