Help identify if possible
Im sorry I dont have a picture but i was wondering if someone could help me identify a live rock traveler I have been watching in my tank.
It is a small orange and brown invert that is realatively stationary. It has a head and mouth parts which cast out a 'net' which is white and looks like a spider web it then drags the 'net' back in a few times durring the day. About 5 minutes after the 'net' is completely pulled in it spits particulates back into the water and then recasts its trap. It has grown a great deal maybe tripled in size. It is about 3/4 of an inch. I was wondering if anyone knows what it might be and if it is safe to keep. It is ugly but very interesting to watch. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Sounds like a vermetid snail. It is reef safe but over the years they may reproduce into nuisance proportions. JME

Yes, it does sound a lot like a vermetid snail. Here is a link to some pics (I hope the link works): http://www.reefs.org/hhfaq/pages/pic..._vermetid.html
