Good day all,
I picked up a couple of new 5 gallon buckets yesterday to store top-off water and pre-mixed SW however they have a strange odor to them. What is the best way to steralize these buckets before I actually use them?
Regards,

Regards,
I would use a simple bleach and water mix and let them air dry then rince with straight water again. HTH

Hmmmmm what to put here???
I use bleach also, but when I rinse them out for the final time I use boiling water, might be extreme but it works for me.

I usally just wrinse them out really good but the bleach idea is a good one.
I've gotten really anal about this. Not only do I not store my mixed change water in a rubbermaid tub any more (I use a 30 gal glass tank), but after a water change I rinse my buckets out with clorox to keep the bacteria from growing during storage of the empty buckets. This probably isn't necessary, but it makes me feel better.![]()
The road to hell is paved with good intentions, but it's the thought that counts.
