Calicium is over 600 PPM
Ok - Need some input on this, I have been dosing for a while now, with B-Ionic, and I just tested my calcium level using a Salifert test kit. It is off the chart, over 600 ppm...can this be right?
My ALK is at 6.. which IMO is too low, I would like it at 10-12. I was always under the impression that once calciums levels get above about 550, that it begins to marterialize in the water, that snowing affect? My coralline is just booming, and my SPS seem to be doing great. What would be the next action to correct this? I always seem to get my Ca up, but have a problem with my ALK? Has anyone just tried using the part 2 of B-Ionic, to only raise the ALK? Should I just use super buffer to raise this? ooh yeah... PH right now is 8.4

whens the last time you did a waterchange and how much do you dose a day in what size tank?
i would cut the amount of ca part in half and do a water change.test daily and try to find a good balance. heavy use of bioinic can cause problems like you describe- the ca slowly creeping up ,which drives the alk down, and a gradual rise in specific gravity(checked that lately?)- if you dont keep up the water changes.-jme |

Just dose the alkalinity part of the B-Ionic as your alkalinity comes up your calcium will come down. No need for a water change if your SG is OK. (and it looks good to me).
