DSB question

can a DSB be effective at 3 inches? Or should I just as well have a half inch?
Keep the faith,

yes -ime a 3" bed can be effective and in a lightly loaded tank will keep nitrates in check.

Organic, it is a lite tank (20 gal w/some polyps and a clown/40 lbs rock) do you think I should "rig" an extra inch to he DSB if I plan on increase the load in the future?

personally-especially in a tank that small-id prefer to keep the bioload light in the tank anyway-and more than three inches is too much for a tank that small-the loss of realestate outweighs the benefits of more sand.
i would go with at most 3 inches and no more than maybe two-three more small fish -max.

Organic, good point. When I say increase the load, I'm talkin maybe one more fish and two more small coral pieces tops. Do you think my 20 long could handle that? It's got a skilter on it and plenty o rock. I think your right about the 3 in. there's so little room as it is.
