New Years Pictures - Side View

I have to start off the new year with some pictures right? I rarely take side shots, mainly because I don't keep the viewing area as clean as the front of the tank.

And a couple of my favorite (among many) corals from the side ...

Happy New Year :celeb3:

Stunning Chuck!

Looking at it from the side like that, it doesn't appear there is a very wide path for the fish to swim. It only looks about 3" wide; is it or does the picture just look like that?

Regards and Happy New Year!

Hi Scott,

It is pretty full in there for sure. Luckily nearly all of my fish are small guys that like to maneuver in and out of rockwork. There is room to swim around the coral colonies actually, just hard to see the areas in pictures like these.

Here is a future post from Scott, inspired by Chuck:

"I've got a problem, my corals grow way too much and my fish have no room to swim!"

If you decide they need a bit more room, frag some of those babies and send'em my way.

Regards,

I'm new to all this "reefing", but Scott has really got me into it, it's just hard to believe our tank could turn out as beautiful as yours Chuck, but I'm trying to be patient!

Well this reefing thing sure can get addicting ... BE VERY AWARE

And yes, my mom is proud, but probably not because of my reef tank, I don't think she knows what it takes to keep one of these babies healthy ... haha

Ok heres one for ya Chuck

You obviously have large colonys of corals which took time to grow (im assuming that most of them where frags or small colonys right?) so did you just start taking rocks out of the tank as the corals grew? How much percentage of mass is taken up by corals and how much is taken up by LR?

There is probably 120 lbs of live rock. What you see in this picture is the rock that is in there today ... so this will give you an idea ... I hope ...
