    A couple of coral pictures

This first picture is of a colony from a little over a year ago. I got it for free from the LFS because (as you can see) it was rapidly being taken over by algae and was bleaching. Over the next 10 months is turned a darker green brown nothing too cool. Then this Oct. I increased the photoperiod to 10 hours and at the beginning of Dec. replaced both 400W 10,000K Ushio bulbs with one new one and the other with a 20,000K Radium 400W. Now after 30 days it is really coloring up.

    Regards,
    Kevin

having one 10k and one 20k, does that make one side of the tank a little more blue?? is this offset by actinics???

    danimal11211,
The bulbs are not on opposite ends of the tank but in adjoining fixtures. The actual bulbs are 12" apart so the color blends perfectly.

    Question Good lighting Idea

So kevinpo, how does your tank look with the two lamps side by side, blue, white, what ever? I am also curious; how big is the tank these two lamps covering? I have a 72 gal. bow and your idea sounds intriguing. I am a bit concerned that 20K lamps alone would be to blue for my taste. I am still designing a MH lighting system for my tank. I am curious though; how much light reaches the outer edges of your tank? Is there enough light for good SPS growth or are you covering a smaller tank that could easily be covered by the two lights?
