Detaching clams abyssil fibers
ok, i perched my T. maxima ontop
of a rock so it would be closer to the MH light, well, it appears that it doesn't like the currents there and has moved perpendicular to the water surface-- is sitting sideways, not getting any light.. So, i'd like to reposition it. how do ya get it to detach w/out hurting it. i'm afraid that it won't do well if it's mantle isn't exposed to the light.. many thanks!!

Try to cut the threads closest to the rock and not the byssal . You may have to lean him over a little at a time to do this.
How big is the rock that he is on? If not too large you might trying moving the rock or reposition the current. Barry |
