SPS question?

I have a 250 watt MH and was wondering how close, on average, you can keep Acropora and Montipora and others to that light. My light is 9 in. above the water. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I have several sps only 3" from the water line with my 250 halide about 9" up also. Just dont place them up that high to start probably start them a little lower and move them up over a few weeks to get use to the intense lighting.
