he's freakin indestructable
ive smashed his head-hes jumped out of and back into my tank at least four times -in my presence-at least a couple of those times hitting one of the halides. but tonight he blows me away. i changed out the seals to my ampmaster yesterday =so today i have some water in the bottom of my stand(it holds about 20 gallons-water proofed)-i actually was running the garden hose in and flushing it out while syphoning out the back door....to clean out the old dust/salt creep/additive crusts... it was running like this for about an hour when i decided to take another peek at the ampmaster in the back of the stand to check for leaks.so i stick my head back there and out of the corner of my eye i see my yellow streaked fairy wrasse laying on his side in 2 inches of water with the garden hose blowing him slowly toward me-i freaked-scooped him up -out of the freezing water -he was completely lifeless.but as i was lifting him he gave the slightest little wiggle and fell back in the water -and under my refugium!! the gap under the refugium is only a couple inches and you cant even see under itso i sated frantically swishing the water with my hands to flush him out -and i eventually got him-with the help of a net and after at least another five minutes...added to however long he was in there in the first place anyway i threw him right back in the tank-his fins were all clinched and he had a whitish looking haze to him, he floated down half way down and then gave a couple very awkward and weak half wiggles into cave. this was about three oclock=i just came in (9:10 pm)as the automatic feeder is going off -and hes having dinner-with just some pretty badly tattered fins from the looks. ![]() |

"Holy Sh!t" is right Organic.
That fish must relly like you or something Its hard to believe that he could make it through just one of the things you mentioned and then to have him flopping around on the floor......... Its great to hear he has made it through the day and made it out to grab some grub.. Wastedincome420 |

youd never know by the looks of him today-what a tough fish.
isnt scared of me at all either -follows my hand around the tank and even allows me to pet him.just a great little fish-not the most colorful-but his personality more than makes up for it. im gonna work on sealing up the hood a little better today to keep this from happening again. |

Now there's a very creative way to do a fresh water dip.
Looks like you have a fishy Evel Knievl. Hope he fully recovers. ![]()

uh.. apparently your spelling needs help, too
(grammER vs grammAR). TOTALLY just kidding. WAY cool about the death-defying wrasse! Sounds like a cool, scrappy fish. Glad he made it! |

almostdiva....you'll notice I spelled "grammar" correctly!
My Killer Hawkfish jumped out of the tank once, and I found it lying dried out and stiff on the carpet. I put it back in the tank to see if it was still alive, and the next day, he was back to his old destructive ways. |

I guess it's safe to assume all those anecdotes about those fairy/flasher wrasses jumping are true now.
Great tale... ![]()

yeah -he jumps quite often-my hood is all closed up except in the back where the closed loop comes in.hes always made it back in before this time.
its crazy -he looks *perfect* tonight-no split fins at all. amazing. one of the healthiest "happiest" fish ive ever had- been with me for i guess nealy a year ,eats almost as much nori as my pbt (seriously) and has almost doubled in size. everyone should have one ![]() |

I had a female C. jordani that I thought had died. I mean one day she just vanished without a trace. Then a good MONTH and a half later, I was cleaning out one of my overflows and there she was looking better than ever. Of course a couple months after that she managed to jump THROUGH my eggcrate cover to bake herself to death under my halides.

Another fish survival story:
In the beginning of my reef career, I had a bad outbreak of Byropsis on one large piece of LR. I took it out of the tank after swishing it around to jar any snails loose, and proceeded to take it outside, where I hosed it off with a garden hose and nozzle. I brushed off the Bryopsis with a wire brush, rinsed the LR with the garden hose again, and stuck the rock in a bucket of tank water.
I came back a few minutes later, and a Three-Striped Damsel was swimming in the water. It had curled up in one of the recesses of the LR and survived the pressure washing with cold fresh water, the wire brush and about 20 minutes out of water. |

Thanks. I've already asked them to notify me when a female comes in.
