After loosing my first clam, a Crocea given to me, I finally decided to try a clam again. I talked to some great people who helped me a lot. Barry N.( Clamsdirect)and Rob (at east coast) gave me lots of info and made me some great deal offers but I finally decided on Palmetto reefs for replacements. Darren was very helpfull and I really wanted ORA clams. It really came down to my kids preferences. With a limited budget(very limited), I told Darren what I (my kids) wanted and how much I had to spend and he fixed me up to a tee. I wish I could post some pics but I have no dig. camera. If you want to deal with a class act go with Palmetto reef. Thanks Darren
Steve

Orchretoe,
ORA clams are Great! They are farmed raised in the Marshall Islands by a company called Wau Island Mariculture Farm which is a division of Robert Reimers Enterprises, Inc. It is very possible if you got maximas and squamosas they could be these type of clams. I know that Barry at Clams Direct is able to gets these from his wholesalers out of LA and it may be possible that Rob and Darren do also???? IMO there is no better maxima and squamosa on the market. Sometime (but it is rare) they also offer gigas and hippopus clams. Jim |
