new fish
Due to the vast amount of pods in my reef (and mostly because I want one) I got a small male Mandarin Dragonet goby. We named him Puff the Magic Dragonet.
When the lights go out, the tank looks like Times Square on New Years Eve. But instead of feasting on the easily available pods, Puff puts on his whitish night colors and sleeps in the corner of the tank. During the day he swims around constantly picking at the rocks. He even ate some food I put in this morning. I found it interesting that the Mandarin is a day feeder. Evidently Puff would be a nice dinner for some nocturnal preditor in the ocean.

mandarins are poisonous and most fish spit them out or die or at least very ill if they eat them.thats why theyre so colorful(aposematic-sp?) and slow moving and active during the day.most fish ignore them -including in our tanks. ![]() |

They are not immune to anemone, however. I found that out the hard way. One became a very expensive meal for my LTA.
They are neat little fish.
