I don't have any knowledge of working with VHO's or do I need to go with 36in. What do you think?

I too have a 48" canopy. URI offers a 46.5" bulb and a 48". With the 46.5, there is enough room for endcaps and all. HTH

I believe with the end caps on they are 47.5". I just checked and I've lent all my 48" bulbs out right now so I can't verify but someone posted the same question recently and I did measure then and this is what I remember.

Hey there, If you get the 46.5 inchers it will fit in there like a glove. I have those and my canopy is 48" exactly, and I think that there is slightly less than a 1/2 inch on each end. HTH

A kool thing about the 46.5"s is that they are also 110w like the 48"'s
Where as the 36" aren't |

I have a 48" wide canopy and the 46.5" bulbs with endcaps fit like a charm. I didn't want to risk not having the 48" bulbs fit. Same wattage, just 1.5" shorter
