Let's see those 300gal reefs!

I am currently setting up a 300 gal reef and would like to see how others have done it. Plumbing details would be most benificial.

I have a Iwaki 100 serving as the main circulation
pump for a 300gal main tank and a 65gal refugium (side
by side) above a 60 gal sump. The Iwaki 100 returns to
the main tank through two 3/4" sea swirls.

I have a Iwaki 40 to run the skimmer with a bypass
returning to the main tank when skimmer is "turned
down". This pump returns to the main tank through a
spray bar.

I have a CustomSeaLife T2 to run a Nu-Clear
cannister filter with a bypass returning to the main
tank when not running the cannister filter. This pump
returns to the main tank through a 3/4" sea swirl.

I have three 400W MH pendants each with 2 PCs and four 6' VHOs for lighting.

How does this sound so far?

I could almost be there. If my sump were full, refugium full, tank full it would come out to 280.

www.cpugh.com Tank won't be up til next week though.

Well if you look only half way down it's 300 gal . This is from the side view 44".

Plumbing is pretty simple all the water flow down the center towers and returns through 4 - 3/4" Sea Swirls along the back and 2 - 3/4" pipes in one end that shoot across the tank surface long ways on either side of the towers.

Regards,
Kevin

I got 2 sweetwater pump (5000gph ea.) one run the skimmer and the other runs the Actuator made by Hayward pool, is nothing but a big wave maker that switches the flow from the right side to the left every 20min. you could adjust anyway you want.

Hey Kevin!!
You have an awesome tank!!!
You probably won't recognize Montclair. Rancho Cucamonga is only 5 miles from there, now has one of the biggest shopping malls in the country.
So your is close to 600gal, I upgrade my six mo. ago to a 225 and I'm running out of room again.
I think the only advantage that I have on you is that I can walk-in at Walt Smith.ha!ha!

The Actuator made by Hayward pool, they are located in Pomona. I got this one used, I haven't had any problems yet. Was suggested to me by a friend, that has the same unit, to set it to 20min or longer so the unit doesn't work too hard, I had it every 3min. before, it made sense to me to prolong to 20 min. As Far as wave unit, I'm using the Tsunami.
