Green star polyps and sps tank

Do you keep Green star polyps in with your sps's? I'm tearing down my small tank and would like to put mine in my large sps tank ,or would it take over the whole tank.
Thanks Bill

DONT do it! You will regret it! I DO! Star polyps will overtake damn near everything! I wish I would have never put them in my SPS system...they are beautiful and they grow fast especially with good current which SPS tanks generally have I Have heard that you can Kalk them to kill them but I hate killing any corals...I think Im gonna have to revamp some of my rocks

Why not start a colony on the back wall of the tank? Just an Idea.

I have both Pachyclavularia violacea (commonly called green star polyps) and Briareum stechei which is really an encrusting gorgonian but looks very similar to the previously mentioned coral and is often sold as GSP also. If yours is a real grower put it on the substrate near the glass so it has to grow up the glass or across the substrate where it can be controlled. It looks pretty awesome if allowed to grow on the back or end of the tank.

Regards,
Kevin
PS: the distinguishing feature between the two is the rubbery mat. P. violaces is very purple with small stalks even when the polyps are retracted. Briareum mat is cream colored and flat with only small bumps when the polyps are retracted.
