Updated Tank Shots - Feb 2003
It's been since the end of 2002 since I have updated my main tank pictures. Have to keep up with the chronology ... and thought I would share.
Full Tank Shot ... Left Side of Tank ... Center of Tank ... Right of Tank ... Left Side Shot ... Ride Side Shot (not that great of a shot) ... ![]() |

Sweet Chuck
That purple formosa looks like the growth form is changing due to trimming. It looks more branchy/bushy. The stags can get stumpy looking after a few years of pruning.Regards, Kevin

I cant see anything throw all those corals. Maybe you should get rid of some so you can see in the tank better.

Kevin,
I really haven't trimmed that Purple Formosa hardly at all ... It has on it's own started branching off in different directions. The only places where I have trimmed has been in the front toward the glass. Those are definately branching differently because of the trimming. Tendar ... You are welcome to stop by and grab a few frags ![]() |

Oops ... didn't mean to leave you out Scott ... haha ... I knew there was a question in there from ya
![]() That is I believe to be some sort of Bali Stag ... I can't guarantee it is a Youngei ... It didn't really slime up when I put the frag in place, that's why I don't think it is one. But likely a very close relative ![]() I took this picture of it at the end of last year ... Better view to compare? |

, I was just giving you a hard way to go. ![]() Thanks for the close-up, it isn't what I have. When the tank is lit tonight I will get a picture of mine and post it. I need a good ID book. ![]() Regards, |

Yah, I know you were giving me a hard time
I have Veron's Corals of the World and even with that book it is tough to get positive IDs ... it is a difficult part of the hobby for sure. I haven't gotten that detailed yet ... but always nice to get a positive ID to understand exactly what we have. |

Nice piece Scott ... Kevin has some Youngei, maybe he can chime in to tell us if the corallites look like his to get more of an idea of that is what you have?
Either way, you will like that coral, looks great. |

I don't know what it is. It will have to growout some to develop the growth pattern better. A. yongei is bright green with extended polyps day and night. Mine is lighter color than most I've seen and may be something else. Chuck's is much more typical of the ones I've seen.
I have some frags of A. microphthalma that look like Scott's. If close enough to the light they will develop blue tips. Regards, Kevin

My tank is a bit over a year old, but most of the livestock came from my previous tank that I transferred from and that was set up as a reef for over a year ... so I guess a lot of the coral is around 1 1/2 to 2 years old ...
