Darren,
I don't know about funny but they sure seem expensive. It seems odd they don't give the size in inches. They just say large and very large. One man's large may be another man's small

Regards,
Kevin

I was referring to the "hybrid" clam in particular.

Darren,

It is funny indeed about it being "hybrid",which it isn't.The not funny part is the price, seems very expensive for a regular blue maxima unless it's like 8-9" in size

PS.Kevin,I'm afraid to ask what you meant with the last statement

What are those prices, Yen?

That is irresponsible to sell that clam as a "hybrid". Unless they are truely ignorant.....well, that is another issue.

Kev,

How many inches is Large and extra large? 3" could mean larger than 2" or 2" being larger than 1"

Barry,

When I look at clams I'm thinking large would be like 5-6" and exlarge in the 7-9" range.Am I correct?I mean for the trade only as in the wild some clams reach 36" in size and some like crocea are not that big, yes?

Well... ,

I have a derasa that is about nine inches and in my tank it looks ex.large now if I would put this in a 300g tank I would probably think that it's a large clam.

What I said was meant as sarcasm.I've been thinking about this pricing thing and for the life of me can't figure out how they arrive at those incredible prices.Seems like alot of mula for a not so spectacular clam.Maybe it was in yen....

IMO, A small clam is 1"- 3", medium would be 3.5" - 5", large would be 5" - 7" and XL would be 7" -10" and XXL would be 10" - 12" and HUGH would be 15" +

Of course it would be the eye of the beholder as medium in a 10 gal would appear to be large or in a 100 gal would appear to be small

Depending on species, of course.

I mean, I have a couple 6" Croceas that I consider XL.

8" Crocea would be HUGE.

Hi Darren,
The clam is in my 110g tank.I have to add that photography will play a role in it as well. If you just look at the pic I posted you may think that the clam is BIG.But here is one more, judge for yourself,I think it does not look so big

PS.Darren, I think 6" crocea is pretty big.I have not seen many that size offered for sale anywhere in a long while, correct me if I'm wrong ofcourse
