Kalk Dosing for 200g Tank
Hello people,
I am interested in setting up a Nilsen reactor to dose Kalk to my system at night . My thought was to hook it up to my Auto Topoff with a photo sensor. So at night it tops with Kalk. My question is, my RO system is a 75gpd unit., so when it turns on the flow of water is much faster than a slow steady drip. So if throughout the night it turns on and off to top off the tank, will the faster Kalk dosing to the tank be detrimental. I am not quite sure what my night time Evaporative rate is. But I doubt if it's more that a gallon or two a night. And that is spread out across 10 hrs. Also if anyone is running a large system 250g + What size Nilsen reactor do you use, and what size would you recommend. Currently I have over 240g of water. But I expect within the next several months to be at 450g+. Thanks for your experience. Dave |

New to this board, but you could dose kalk 24/7 to make up for part ½ (or so) of your evaporation rate per day by running your R.O. system through the reactor. have heard of several ppl doing this with no serious side effects, just keep a close eye on the norm. ph, calcuim & alk. As far the R.O. unit being to fast for the reactor the input on the reactor should be adjustable for a slower drip.

If you are useing a dosing pump with the Nilsen Reactor you can run it 24-7 chech PH for 3 or 4 days on start up. Have ran my own this way it has worked well. RGibson

I do the same. I let my nielsen run 24/7 with no ill effects on no more than a float switch (LIFE REEF).
