Im building an oak stand/hood for my new 125 and wanna know who all here has an oak stand?

I don't have an oak stand currently but I have built a few in my time. Was you just looking for pictures or did you have some specific questions?

Both actually. Right now I have the frame work completed, with 2x4''s. I plan on using the oak kitchen cabinet doors from either home depot or lowes, to give it a more finished look.
Im tossed if I should use 3/4" oak plywood or the 1/4" oak plywood for the sides. The front I plan on frameing up with 1x4 oak boards. A little pricey ay 1.90 per foot, but It will give it a nice look. TO finish it off I was going to use some nice corner oak trim. Stained and shellacked (sp?) For water protection. The interior will get 1/2" plywood for the bottom, then covered with a sheet of white lenolium. What do you think? I was hopeing to find a few pictures for comparison purposes. |

We have a DIY Oak Stand. The side panels are Oak Ply. The front, trim, and hood are solid oak. We built the raised panel doors from solid oak also.

Here is one I built a long time ago...
It looks a lot like dattacks. This one is a 180g stand built from oak.

Well I copied the 2x4 frames from David Grigor from RC and the trimmings from Technobuyer.
 From D. Grigor, his framing is very easy to accomplish.   Makes everything really easy afterwards. |

Does the plywood sheet on top serve a purpose? It doesnt seem to me that it would help support the cetner part of the tank any since the frame of the tank extends lower then the glass. Therefore all you need is the framework instead of a flat surface.

Oh, ok that makes sense then.
Becuase I was considering doing it as well but after takeing a closer look at the tank I realised that it wouldnt really do any good. |
