So where did you get yours from.
Was it locally or did you mail order.
I would like to get one but I tried once a year ago and it died after a month so have not tried again.

Thanks Gene,

I am happy he is still eating. And eating pretty vigorously when I feed too. I do feed by hand still to make sure he gets his share. Not sure what will happen on my first long week of business travel, dreading that week It will come.

Tendar ... I got this one mail order from The Marine Center ... They are very good at quarantining their fish and that they are eating prior to shipment.

The local reefers in my area are far away, but I found someone closer (relative term I guess) that I may call upon during my next trip. A local friend one day (not into fish at all), the other guy the next day (a fellow reefer) and so on ... Buddy system?

Thumbs up Buddy system

I think you found the perfect name for it Chuck. My son keeps fish but it's fresh water but still, I can trust him after I run the routine by him few times. I guess if you leave for couple of days at the time,it's no problem but I go away usualy for couple of weeks on vacations and always dread this times. Now I've found couple of local reefers that're willing to alternate with my son, works great

Hi Chuck,
Fish is lookin great. I also tried one several years ago and it didn't last very long, but that was the OLD days
I ordered one from the Marine Center and it was supposed to be delivered on Fri . (WAS) Fedex claims the address was incorrect
IT WAS THE CORRECT ADDRESS !!!!! They lost it , and now the fish will die I am super pissed right now because this was the first fish I mail ordered and the first fish that I would have introduced into my system in many years. OK , I had to vent .
How is yours doing regarding eating the Aptasia ?

OK, Positive update !!!!!
I have the fish
After not recieving it the 2nd day (today) I went to pick it up at fedex and it was lost (2pm) . They close at 5 pm . The truck that it was suppose to be on was there and empty. I figured it was a gonner. I was out for the afternoon and got home at 5:05 and got a message on the answering machine that the box was found. They waited for me to pick it up after hours. I acclimated it for 3 hours.
I hope I have the same success as you Chuck.

Mark,
How bad is it? Did he take any food yet or it's still getting used to the new environment?I hope he pulls through for you and grows to be a fat and happy Aiptasia killer.

Sorry to hear about the problems you had with this fish ... Can you get some compensation from the shipping company maybe?

I will keep my fingers crossed for your fish. Have you tried to feed it yet? Has it accepted any food?

Gene, day 1 it didn't eat anything but I did see it pick at a tiny tube worm feather duster.
Day 2, today it took a few mysis. I tried several different foods but that was all it took.

Chuck, fedex filled out a claim if I wanted I could use it but I don't think I will.

I think the Purple Tang is a bit freaked out though, there was some chasing but that has settled down. The yellow tang doesn't even care
I hope this guy / gal , survives.

Thanks,

Don't worry about the tangs Your copperband will be much more agile and quick once he's eating enough.I had a yellow tang giving mine a chase at first, but now it just make this fat tang look silly and clumsy by making him miss and fly by . All of my aiptasia been erradicated from the display tank and I'm feeding him oyster flesh, misyd and even brine shrimp. I just picked up some ocean plankton(hikari) and he seems to like that as well. Getting fatter too. My advice would be just keep at it and continue to offer food.He/she will get with the plan hopefuly. Good luck Mark.

The fact that the fish is picking at the feather duster is a good sign I think. It is it's favorite food IMO.Mine ate all that he could get and then started on the anemones.

WOW, just tonight it ventured from it's little corner of the tank and now it's chowing down on Aptasia
I feel much better now.
And you are right , it doesn't seem as bothered by the Purple tang anymore already.

Chuck, that is great your copperband is doing good. Have you noticed any growth?? If it is growing it may can not eat enough to fill out fully yet. I think with your having it this long it is going to do awesome for you. Surely you can find someone that will hand feed it for you for your next business travel. I'd do it if I could.

Mark, now that is a true survival story. Very similar to my copperbands life story. Lost on a airport tarmac and delayed 2 days getting to my LFS. Mine was the only one of the 3 that made it. It sounds like yours is doing awesome for the start it had. I bet it'll be fine. Mine loves it's mysis shrimp oh and any duster worms it can stick it's snout close enough to to get.

Thanks for keeping up to date on my copperband progress Sue ... Yes, I do believe he may in fact be growing, so hard to tell without a second set of eyes to wage it off of ... I am so glad he is eating everyday still ...I am becoming less and less worried about this fish with each passing week

And come on up, I could definately use your help to hand feed my fish
