Acropora Nana - Branches Galore (Pic)

I thought this picture was kind of neat as it gives both a nice color rendoring of the coral as well as an inidication to the size without showing the whole piece

Well I didn't buy a colony like this. It grew into a colonly like this. It was a bit smaller than a baseball when I got it off a fellow reefer that was moving out of the area ... It is now about 10 inches across

Nice to see you here ... why not the same name?

It is a nice piece of coral. One of my prized coral colonies for sure. Definately a centerpiece coral.

its interesting how yours has the tan base and the purple tips, my colony is kinda of a violet base, solid purple tips, and green polyps, similar to a tricolor valida, but it is a nana, im curious to see if mine develops similar color traits like yours has

What kind of polyp extension do you guys experience with this coral? I have a frag that has a similar appearance and the polyps on it are tiny. They definately come out and the corals has excellent color, again very similar to your colony.

Michelle just ordered us the Vernon 3 Volume set tonight; I can't wait to get it and hopefully get some help on identification of our corals.

jeffsdesigns,

Not too many people have corals like that and only one person has pictures of them that clear! Chuck is the man, he will surely dazzle you with his pictures.

Regards,

Well Scott,

I have a ton of frags going. Si I'm sure by Christmas the latest it will look dazzling.
I have one sps thats growing it seems at a rate of a half inch every 2 weeks. Since, i been adding ESV Poly Plantion everydat it seems to have just exploded.
Others, well..they are coming along nicely and will have some to swap out for our Sawp meet in Louisville.

Maybe sometime I can come for a visit and check out ya'll tanks.
I'm only 30 min away from Bardstown, Just outside Louisville.
I'm in Indiana about 10 min away from Louisville.
The guy on the east end of town, Aquatic Reef is about the only place around here I know of to pic up some sps. But he doesn't have some of the sharp colors.

Hi Jeff!

Absolutely, I would love to meet up and sometime!

Todd has recently been getting some nice colonies from WS and others. All of our recent purchases have been from him and they all have great coloration. Some greens, purples, pinks and peaches that are very vibrant. I think he is getting another shipment this week that I hope to check out this weekend.

Where are you in IN? I have another reefer friend that lives in Peking, his name is smackwater here on Reefland.

I too have some frags that are starting to grow well. I hope to bring 5 or 6 to the swap in April.

He had a very nice lavendar acro that he received with his last shipment that I had him hold for me but it bleached out. Hopefully he might get another in with his next shipment.

Chuck,

Any info on the polyp extension?

Regards,

Scott,

I get no polyp extension on this coral during the day. A couple of hours after lights out the polyps are all out. I would say it is hairy like a millepora gets, but the polyps are long and wavy in the water
