Calcium Reactor in Sump??
Hello everyone,
I'm in need of a CA reactor. It is getting too costly and time consuming dosing daily. Plus not nearly as stable as running a reactor from what I have read. The problem I have is that I have no room left in my stand and I do not want to see it beside the stand in the living room. Can I place the reactor submerged in the sump? I run my sump at about 8" of water depth. I think I have enough space for the CO2 equipment in the stand. Has anyone done this or is there any reason not to run a reactor partially submerged? The tank is 125g dominated by SPS. TIA, Kirk |

You can run it in sump also for most if not all calcium reactors.

I run a single stage 6in. by 12in. reactor, w/a Mag2 recirc pump. It all sits in my sump, {a 55g rubbermaid}.

I couldn't think of any reason it could not go in the sump, but all the setups I have seen the reactors were always outside the sump.
Thanks again! |
