curstacean removal
hello all,
I need help removing curstaceans from an established reef tank. I'm ready to add a detrivore kit to my recent DSB addition, but i fear that my 2" lobster, peppermint shrimp and small crab will consume the in-fauna. Can anyone please give me advice on a proven method to remove these guys without disrupting the loads of live rock and coral in the tank. Last edited by mbad; 02-21-2003 at 06:20 AM. |

Cut the top 1/4th off a plastic water bottle (750-1000 ml size) and invert the top into the remaining portion. Bait this trap with something the shrimp likes to eat and set it into the tank near the rocks you know they frequent. Hopefully, they'll crawl in through the funnel, but once inside, they won't be able to get out. You may catch other unwanted fish in the trap, so you'll have to be watchful.
