cleaning it up

I have been changing three gallons a day and things are looking up. The algea growth has all but ceast and the levels are all stable now. I am getting 50 bumblebee snails and 100 hermits this weekend. I think this is sufficient for my 120. What do you guys think?

Mike,
What made you choose bumblebee snails?I'm just curious as I never kept one and would like to know what are the benefits of keeping them instead of Trochus or some other type.I hate hermits and never keep them either, but I do have alot of snails.

my understanding is that the bumblebee snail is a scavenging detritavore that really keeps the rocks and sand bed clean. The zebra hermits are supposedly not nearly as aggressive as the blue leg variety. I still have rochus snails ( bought some recently) but the bumblebee seems like a good choice to keep the sand bed and rocks clean. I have alsopkept nassarius and cerith in the past and liked them but you need several hundred IMO to accomplish anything.

too many bumblebees...my understanding is they are more carnivorous...nassarius -and some more algea eating snails would be a better bet-a good mix.mix the hermits up too.got any cucumbers?

and you dont need several hundred either..

just some suggestions based on my exp.
