Something is wrong ....please help....

My dad and I went and picked up a spaghetti leather (sinularia) the other day....big piece too looked real nice....we put it in our tank and its not doing well at all. my dad just called me and told me that the tips on it are turning black and the polyps arent coming out....tank specs are as follows.....ph 8.0 no3 =25ppm trying to drop those down....salinity is 1.026...we does iodine, strontium/molybdenum, calcium and phytoplankton....nothing else in the tank is doing poorly.... i just got a load of frags from my buddy paul and they are all doing well with exception to the gorgonian....but he gave me an assortment of softies and they are all doing just fine.....hammer, frogspawn, sps, toadstool leather, xenia.......all doing well....lighting.....it was under 2vho bulbs.....one blue and one white.....it was in a 35g tank and the lights were a good foot or 2 above the tank so i figured my 2 vho lamps sitting on my 45g should be almost identical but i push all whites instead of 1 and 1......at night we toss on a little 20w. no actinic but again nothing else seems to be dong poorly...i dont know why the tips would be burning if thats whats wrong because the vhos are pushed to the back of the tank and the sinularia is all the way up front ....i told my dad to put the vho over it tomorrow and see what happens....i dont think current would cause its tips to go black so i dont know what to think.....please give me a hand. my dad told me he made 3 frags off the tips in effort to try and save at least a piece... anyone care to venture a guess?
thanks for your help
Jon

I agree w/ Organic....put another PH in there and might wanna slow down on adding all that stuff and let the tank settle for a while....prolly wouldnt hurt to throw in a filter floss of carbon too. Good Luck!
