do you feed phyto or other plankton type foods?
GP's etc-any type of "micronized" foods at all?
personally i dont like dumping tiny particles into my reef -there are plenty of those floating around as it is-IMO. i only feed the fish and occasionally the LPS.i like to make sure that ALL the food i put into the tank gets eaten right away-i always shut off the return pump when i feed too. as for the filter feeders -they seem to be doing great-feather dusters growing in the sand ,various sponges growing very well etc.. i tried the phyto-it seemed to just want to cause algea blooms -stopped and dont see any reson to go back. whats youre take? ![]() |

I tried golden pearls a year or so ago and did not really like it. To much hassle to get it to sink and did cause some minor algea blooms.
I have been using DT's phyto for probably like 2 years now on and off and have been using it alot over the last year and have been very happy with it. I dose almost daily and have never had a algea problem to mention and that is with out a skimmer. My sponges and feather dusters have really taken off more than before the daily dosing and take seems to be very healthy. |

Yep.
I make my own green water, or I snag it from clownfishboy.
I like it immensely.

In my 75 I only clean front glass
,where do you think pods and snails are hanging out mostly? I still add Phyto for the clams though like every other day.GP once a week after lights are out and so far it did not cause any problems for me and I usualy premix it in a cup of tank water and pour it in. I turn my skimmer off for the night as well.So far I like it.
