What you started with? So it came from the store looking like that? When are you going to show us pics of it now? oh I crack myself up... Seriously though great tank looks like you are really coming along. I love the yellow zooanthids, and what's that fuzzy neon green patch off center to the right? right below the ricordia?

Henry

"hcp28" those yellow zooanthids are actually yellow/orange sun polyps that are out becasue they think I am gonna feed them. ANd the neon green thing is some kind of sponge I thought the color was neat so I decided to let it grow!

Here a few before and after picks of corals:

Bubble:

The first pic is actually after I had had the coral for a few weeks! I got this coral for $3 it had one tiny barely visible polyp.

Candy

Sorry I dont have a more recent close up of my candy. It doesn't look much different it just has some more new growth.

I will see if I can get some more closeups of my tank tonight. I will do what I can, as you can see photography is not my strong point. If there is anything specifically you want to see up close just let me know!

Thanks for all the kind words

Excellent job! You have really provided a great environment for the corals as shown by the vast improvement in their health.
Keep up the good work.

Regards,
Kevin

Thank you all for the kind words. I try and do the best I can with the budget I have! I have a wife that doesn't think the the reefin' thing is nearly as cool or fasanating as I do. Not only is she my wife but she also happens to be my accountant and my boss!

Hi DINHOUSE!

Your tank looks very nice! It's amazing the difference a year can make even on a budget.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the use of the Maxi-Jet placed verticle with the airline attached? Do you use that for a skimmer?

Regards,

very nice tank-the progression shots are great-wish i had some of those.

just a suggestion:the sarcophyton you have on the right side on the bottom -put it up top.it will really appreciate the extra light the fingers would grow closer together and the polyps will grow more densley.to my eye-its cleary stretching to the light.

just a freindly suggestion-by all means if you like where it is -it wil do just fine

"Reefland" the maxijet actually is used to power a skimmer I just got. The skimmer has been removed to be modified. The boss was around when I pulled the skimmer and a few drops of water got on her carpet and I heard about it for two days so in efforts to keep the peace I left the powerhead in the tank for the time being.

"organicreefer" Excuse me for my ignorance of the real name of corals but I assume you are talking about the devils hand? When I first got it I had it high in the tank and it would never open up all the way it stayed small so I moved it. It has since doubled in size. SO did I maybe have it to high in the tank? I will try and move it half way and see how it responds. Thanks for the info it is much appreciated!

hhhmmmm-i was thinking it was a "toadstool" -leather coral growth forms can vary quite a bit -and it does somewhat resemble a "devils hand" -its hard to tell from the angle of the pic.im still leaning toadstool-i think its similar to one i have.

irregardless of the species-its still stretching for light(or so it seems ) and i would slowly move it up.it probably didnt open up because it wasnt aclimated to the light or was just going through a shedding period

(lightbulb comes on over head) speaking of which does it periodically stay closed for a day or two or three and shed a waxy skin?(something toadstools do regularly)
