    Testing my new 125

    Well, my tank finally has water in it. I have had my tank and stand for some time now and have been slowly getting things together.

    I placed my sump (20 long) and my 22 gal ref inside the stand, put the 125 on top, leveled it out, plumbed it, and filled it with tap water for testing.

    I am running a mag 18 wide open and the factory overflows are keeping up. It is sort of a surprise to me because i was told by one of the AGA reps that the overflows would only handle about 500 gph each. I am using Durso standpipes and they work great.

    Everything looks good to this point. All i really have left to do is build my hood, buy my sand, and buy my skimmer and i will be ready to start making my RO water.

    I just have to keep up the pace with my brother who is getting his new 120 gal started. ;;

    My new 120AGA pics (not quite finished)

    Looks good. You might need to upgrade lighting though. ;)

    I agree, that 65 watt PC would only give you .52 watts/gal of light. That wouldn't even be enough to keep a snail!

    Well, originally I had planned to build a hood housing 3 - 400watt Ushio 10k MH bulbs and 4 - 160watt actinic 03 VHO bulbs.

    Then when i put that 65watt Coralife PC light on the tank for the testing phase.......WOW......I said, this looks great. So I trashed the whole hood idea!

    Now i won't have to worry about any unwanted algae or overheating problems.

    Hood is now built. Just needs paint and install the lights. I think i have decided to go with 3 - 250 watt MH instead of the 400's. During the building phase i found out that my MH bulbs would only be about 7" from the surface of the water so i decided to down-size.
