    Overflow questions

    Hello everyone,

I am in the process of setting up a 90 gallon reef tank. I have the tank, my stand built, the protein skimmer, and water pump. I am thinking of using a stand-pipe for the overflow, but I am not sure how big of one to use, or even if this is a good idea. My water pump is a mag-drive that will process roughly 600 gph, so I'm thinking that I will need a pipe that is at least a 1-1/2" dia. Is an overflow box a better idea? What do you guys think is the proper size of the bulk-head I should use? Thanks! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A 1" drain will handle 600 gph so you would fine.
