Clown Goby Egg Laying (Pics)

My Yellow Clown Gobies finally paired up and are enjoying their new courtship

The first picture is the overall colony where they laid their eggs and the second picture is a bit of a closeup of the egg nest.

Chuck,

COOL!

How long have you had them/did it take them to pair up?

I've been thinking about the green clown gobies for my system. (They are such CUTE little buggers).

When did they lay the eggs -- at night or during the day?

Great pics as usual BTW.

Rebecca

I have a green pair that I have had for over a year ... a black pair that I have had for over a year, and the yellow pair that I have had for at least 8 months. All now lay eggs. The green and black ones tended to pair up within a few months. The yellow ones took about 6 months to pair up. I think they were younger when I got them

They will lay eggs both during the day and night from what I can tell ... I rarely see them "In the act" though ... hehe

MUST they be kept with "branching corals"?? How about a branching coral skeleton? I think they are too cute and great little fishes. But I don't see myself being the SPS Queen in the near future...

Drs Foster/Smith have the Gumdrop white/pink spot ones on their "collectors corner" at the moment. I am tempted.

No, they do not have to be kept with branching coral. Many reef tanks can be the home of them. They will find homes in soft corals as well, or even just hang on rocks. They are most comfortable of course in the branches of Acropora.

White/Pink spot ones huh???? hehe

They are great little fish, but I've tried 2 now and both decided they wanted to escape down my overflow. Until I create some sort of screen for the overflow, I'll just have to enjoy the picts.
