best 10k 250 wt mh on market?

Its time for new bulbs. What is the best/most reliale 10k bulb. I know that AB has had problems in the last year., have they fixed them? Who is running what and who likes what and why. I don't make enough money to buy new bulbs but once a year. Thanks.
Steve

I run 2x250W A-B DE over my 100gal tank, and i love them!
They make my tank look like something out of a red sea documentarie(sp?)

I'd go for the A-B's

I have seen two on-line dealers say they would not replace non-working bulbs. (Marine Depot I think was one) An earlier thread talked about AB having problems burning out in 1 or 2 months. I also saw a thread about 4 weeks ago saying AB has fixed the problem or that bad batch was recalled or something along those lines. Thats all I know.

I guess you're talking about the mogul base 250w 10,000K, right? The only thing I ever heard about them was a good while back and that was from Marine Depot. Marine Depot said that it was their experience that those bulbs did not do well when used with regular MH ballasts. I have read other posts along the lines that these bulbs should be run on so-called HQI type ballasts.

Ninong, I guess thats what I didn't know about the problem with them. I didn't know if the bulbs burned out or just didn't fire properly. I guess I will go with ushio's because the AB's are much more of a question when using magnetic ballast, although from what I have read in Mag. and articles, they have the best useable spetrum. Thanks everyone.

I am running 2 10,000K AB bulbs and they work great, I do use the IceCAp HQI ballast and the bulbs work great. My friend uses the Ushios and like them equally well, I think either bulb will be great!!!

It's a regular balast. I talked to the Hellolights people yesterday and they recomended the AB mogal. The gentalman I talked to said the Ushio might not fire as well on a regular Tar balast.
