Well, I figured I'll post a last pic of the rose bta as it was, becouse I shipped the biggest one today to Doc Shimeck
promise is promise in my book. Had to take apart a good chunk of my 110g reef tank in the proccess and got bitten numerous times by my Clarkii as well ...that beast, lol. I still have two of the anemones but they are gone into hiding after todays event and hopefully will come out in the morning. Here it is,FWIW,it looks kind of empty now![]()

Hey Gene!
I am just curious if Dr. Ron is doing some kind of study on the anemone or if he just wanted a piece of the beauty? I am sure your tank does look a bit empty but with the growth you've experienced, I am sure it will fill it's space again in no time. Regards, |

Hi Scott,
No, he is not doing any studys on the anemone.I wanted to give my thanks to the man who helped me the most(via email and such) for his own tank.I believe he had set up a whole new tank just for the anemone. Quote:

Get ready for your rose to become HUGE in that 150 Send pics when you get your beast. Are you getting a clownfish for it as well? If you do,I would recomend a clarkii , mine is an incredible host and I got wounds to prove it,lol.

Gene,
The one im getting is only 4" in diameter and has just recently split. I do have what I believe to be an Amphiprion Melanopus, and I also have a pair of Black Percs, I havent really decided who Im gonna let have the Rose....I would like to go with the black percs. The Melanopus is already hosting a BTA just not a rose.

Rocky,
Don't worry,it wont be 4" for long if you feed it alot BTW, the percs should be fine but I would let the anemone be by itself for awhile, atleast untill it grows a bit. I have two roses left but they just after split and had not came out to full glory as yet,so I have a giant empty hole ![]()

Im curious Gene, did yours have bulbous tips at one time and they dont now? or is that just when they are fed that they get bulbs on the ends of the tentacles?.....what causes some to have bulb tips and others dont have them?

Rocky,
To be honest,I havent got a clue as to why some have it and some don't. My did have some in the begining(first few days) and as it became larger the bulb tips were gone. I do believe that it is environmental,ie. tank related. BTW,I asked Ron about it while back and he couldn't point out exact reasons to why. I'll attach a pic of mine when I first got it so you can see for yourself...

I have a green BTA and sometimes it has bulb tips and sometimes it doesn't. It has gotten quite HUGE over the last few months!! I keep hoping it will split.
My pair of maroon clowns host in it now. I also have a smaller brown with green tips, BTA that they also host. Here is a pic

April,
You have a beautiful animal and I'm sure it will clone one day I just got word from Dr.Ron that the clone I send him is doing good and the clownfish preferes the rose over green bta for some unknown reasons I have a pic to share and hope Dr.Ron wont kill me for doing it ![]()

Great shot!
Do you have a pair of Clarkii's for your BTA? Do you find them to be a little mean? I had a Clarkii at first and he tryed to bite everyone else in the tank. Got rid of him and got a pair of gold stripe maroon's. I love them, they took to the BTA right away. Here'a a pic I took today.

My Clarkii is a solitary female and she's the meanest fish in the tank. Not only she rules this tank but she bites me as well. Maroon clowns can be very mean as well. Maybe mine is mean becouse she's single? ![]()

Gene,
When I had my Clarkii he was very mean to everyone! My female maroon clown bites me everytime I have my hand in the tank to clean the glass. She thinks that the whole tank belongs to her! The male never bothers me, but follows the female all over the tank. I was able to get a couple of shots of my 80 gallon.
