Just wanted to pass on a little trick I did today to beat the southdown sand storm. After putting the sand in the tank I laid some extra acrylic I had laying around on top of the sand then filled the tank with water. It worked great and I did'nt have any sand storm at all and I can see all the way through the tank.I left the acrylic on top of the sand while I fired up the pumps and stuff just to check everything out. When I put the sand in my 30 gallon it took about 2 weeks before I could see all the wat through it. Just wanted to pass this on and I hope it helps someone out.

Thanks for the great idea. Here's another one for when you need to add sand to a tank that's already set up. Take about a 2 foot length of PVC, 2 1/2 to 3 inch diameter. Have one person guide the end of it into the tank where you want the sand and the other person pour the sand through the pipe. Be sure you start with dry sand or it won't pour.
