St Louis MO Frag Swap
Announcing the “Details” for the SEASL Frag Swap.
The May 2003 SEASL meeting will be May 31, 2003 from 10 AM to 1 PM at the First Baptist Church of St. Ann. The church is located at 3714 Wright Ave, St Ann MO, 63074. The link to a map is included below. The final SEASL meeting until fall will provide an opportunity for hobbyists to trade/sell their corals, critters, and any hobby related equipment and supplies. As always, all SEASL meetings and events are open to everyone, anytime, all the time. Everyone is welcome. That means YOU! There will be two ways in which you can participate. Each is described below. The first trading event is called the Coral Christmas in May (CCIM) trade. This will be for corals; critters/macros/sand/supplies/equipment will be later. This trading game many people play at office Christmas parties. You can enter as many corals as you would like. You get a randomly selected numbered ticket for each coral you enter. For example, if you enter 3 corals, you will get three turns so you will take home 3 corals. Here is how the game works. Each coral will be “wrapped” by the game organizers when you arrive Saturday morning and placed in the “pool” (really a cooler or insulated fish box). Who ever selected ticket #1 will go first. He/she will have to select a coral from the pool. They unwrap their selection so everyone can see it. Then, the person with ticket #2 takes their turn. That person can either select a coral from the pool, or they can steal the coral selected by person #1. If they do that, person #1 selects another coral from the pool. On each turn, there can be only 2 steals, and the same coral can only be stolen once per turn. The second way to participate is the open trade. After the CCIM trade, the meeting time will be open for individuals to trade/swap/sell any hobby related item, including corals and critters not entered in the CCIM. If you do choose to bring corals for this part of the meeting, we ask that you enter at least one coral in the CCIM event. All participants should double bag their items to avoid leaks. We will try to have extra saltwater and bags at the meeting, but we can’t guarantee that. Remember, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” To keep you fueled during this event, we will be selling food and drinks. It will probably be either pizza or sub sandwiches and chips. In keeping with a developing SEASL tradition for this year, we are inviting everyone to bring a desert to share. To help support our costs for producing this event, we will also be asking for a $1 donation at the door. We are looking for volunteers as we organize this event. Your help would be greatly appreciated. You can join in by contacting any of the three people listed below: Gary Duke—Chairman of the SEASL Frag Swap and Chairman of the Food Committee. LuvaRiver@aol.com Scott Johnson—Chairman of the Trading Activities GMendel2x@aol.com Jim Craig—Chairman of the Greeting Committee. jjcraig@charter.net Lastly, this event has the potential to be larger than anything we’ve produced in the past. Therefore, if you are planning to attend, it would be greatly appreciated if you would send an RSVP to Gary Duke at: LuvaRiver@aol.com Map to the Church: http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?Py...&BFClient=&ds=n
