Caught in the act
I was home early today. Got some guests tomorrow so I was cleaning the tank. My Ocelaris trio in my H. magnifica was laying eggs right in fromt of me as I clean the glass. I can't believe my eyes. They have been breeding for the last 6-8 months but this was the first time I saw it as it is going on. I took some picture with my film camera. I will need to develope it before I can post it in a few days.
The female have a protrusion out of her adomen (I guess it call an Oviduct) She drag it on the rock where they choose to be their nest. The egg come out and stick to the rock right away. The male then frolic around the eggs to fertilize them. I cannot see any visible sperm, but the eggs have always hatch before. I think it will this time too. any eggs that did not stick, were eatten by either the male (90+% of the thime) or by the female. It was neat. I am sure not many of us able to caught the fish as they laid eggs like this. Minh

I can't believe I missed this thread
Did you ever developed that film, Minh ? I would really love to see them, if you don't mind posting them ofcourse. I never saw it happen in person(I never kept more then one clownfish) and this sounds so exiting. So, please share man ![]()
