Tridacna maxima with Green Montipora capricornis. My M. capricornis is really that green. This is a top down picture with the water motion blured the picture somewhat

That's a bummer. From what i can see, i would guess that your tank would be awsome.

Minh,I wonder if the tank changed since the January of 2002 when it was the tank of the month in AA magazine? I mean, did you do any major fragging or anything like that?

I did several major prunning. Remove lots of corals. I also removed about 200 lbs of rocks. The last 100 lbs was removed about 4 weeks ago. It seem that I have much fuller tank now than I did at first. I know that I added well over 120 lbs of Ca reactor in media and a huge amout of kalk into my tank. I have loss cout of the number of 20 lbs CO2 tank I have filled.
There is a huge mass of 20 inches each side (L/W/H) mass of LR in my tank that is mostly dead corals that grew in my tank. Most of this mass is made by a green Montipora sp. It grew in plates and the send verticle projection 2-3 inches in height, then form plates again. The lower shaded part would just form the reef structure, only the top living. I placed various corals on top of this Montipora and essentially use it as live rock. I use a screw driver to beat it back when it encroach on my other coral, and let it grow where it does not bother other corals.
I started to have some algae in my tank, and have being changei water more often lately,a nd added a PM Bullet XL2 skimmer since Xmas. It does help the water quality and decrease algae in my tank.
I got to try to get a full tank picture. I think I must tank it at night with full light and no flash. Will try to do this this weekend. I took a picture of my T. gigas, but it look terible. The color was completly untrue. I don't know how to adjust the color to make it look live like so I did not post this picture.

Minh,

FWIW, I could never take a tru color pic of the tank either. It has to be completely dark in the room I think and even then I had problems After I played with the settings on my CP885, it is a bit better but the blues and some red colors are still far from being tru color as I see it in the tank. It is fast becoming a hobby within the hobby If you succeed, please post the updated pics.

A. japonicus is a very underrated tang. It is really beautiful tang and, IME, relatively easy to car for. It is much hardier than the Powder Brown Tang. I got it to fatten up in the sump, and use to eat Nori from the clip. When I put him in the main tank (450g) he was chase into the rock structure for two weeks by the PBT. I feed him using a Nori clip put into the area where he hides. After 3 weeks, he was just one of the boys with the other tangs.
