My Purple Tang at 5 years (pic)

I got this guy 5 years ago this week . It's hard to believe I've had it that long.
I have other fish that are older but am posting this for it's B day in the tank.

Most impressive That's a very healthy fish too!

Thanks for reaching the top end, I get a lot of questions like that at the store. Congrats!

Happy birthday to PT. Thats cool, Mark. My purple tang has been with me for the longest of all my fish. It is right about 4.5 years. I was going to turn it in to my LFS due to the fact it is a kind of bully. I had caught it from my 120 and had it in a bucket on the way to my LFS, then I got all sentimental and turned around and put him in my 180g. He gets along great with the kole and sailfin tangs. You just gotta love these purple tangs.

And many more....

Thanks for the compliments gang !!!!
I knew I had him for a few years but couldn't believe it when I found out it was actually 5.
He looks like he's got a long way to go before he kicks the old salt bucket.

Thanks Northman.
It seems like the old rule of thumb doesn't stand any more about the expected life expectancy of sw fish in captivity.
I think we have progressed enough in this hobby to create a healthier habitat for our inhabitants.
I don't expect this fish to die any time soon.
Although I have noticed just since I posted this pic that there is a white / faded area near the tail just below the scalpel (sp), you can see it in the pic . I'm wondering if it is showing it's age , kinda like when we go gray in our older years.
